Fawatih Y. Mohamed Abouh, MD, MPH
Is a Public Health Physician with extensive global experiences in the fields of Epidemiology, applied research, community health needs assessments, program evaluation, public health interventions, and the academia. She recently joined the team in Musandam Directorate of Disease Surveillance and Control as the Head of Communicable Diseases in June of 2024.
Prior to that, Dr. Fawatih spent more than 10 years working in the United States (US), where she served as the Health Equity Epidemiologist at Yale New Haven Health System in the state of Connecticut (CT), after working as a Program Evaluator at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Fawatih attained her Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Public Health Program at the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine, where she currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor teaching Public Health to medical and graduate students. Dr. Fawatih developed a new program, SIHA, that addresses the health needs of the Arabic-speaking communities in the US.
Before moving to the US, Dr. Fawatih graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Gezira in Sudan. She completed her residency training in Khartoum, Sudan, and then worked at the Ministry of Health in Oman as a General Practitioner for more than 8 years. In her spare time, she participates as a board member and a reviewer for a number of grant-making organizations and community foundations in the state of Connecticut and continues to have recognizable efforts in philanthropy.
